Speakers

Diana Elder

Diana Elder AGⓇ is a professional genealogist accredited in the Gulf South region of the United States and serves as a Commissioner for The International Commission for the Accreditation of Professional Genealogists (ICAPGen). Diana authored Research Like a Pro: A Genealogist’s Guide and co-authored the companion volume, Research Like a Pro with DNA: A Genealogist’s Guide to Finding and Confirming Ancestors with DNA Evidence. She created the study group and eCourse that teach the Research Like a Pro process through videos and learning modules. Diana and her daughter, Nicole, share research tips on their website, Family Locket (https://familylocket.com/), and are the hosts of the Research Like a Pro Genealogy Podcast.

Diana has twenty years of research experience and specializes in southern U.S. research and using DNA to break down brick walls. She regularly teaches at genealogy conferences such as RootsTech and the National Genealogy Society Conference and presents webinars and seminars to local genealogy societies across the United States. Diana likes nothing more than helping people solve their family history mysteries.

Nicole Dyer

Nicole Dyer is a professional genealogist specializing in Southern United States research and genetic genealogy. She is the creator of FamilyLocket.com and the Research Like a Pro Genealogy Podcast. She co-authored Research Like a Pro: A Genealogist’s Guide and Research Like a Pro with DNA and is an instructor for the study groups of the same name. She lectures at conferences and institutes and previously served as the secretary and publicity chair of the Pima County Genealogy Society. Nicole holds a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in History Teaching. At Family Locket Genealogists, Nicole is a project manager, editor, and researcher. Nicole’s research experience includes North and South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Texas, and England. Nicole has completed the following genealogical study programs: Mastering Genealogical Proof Study Group, the Certification Discussion Group, an NGSQ Study Group, the ProGen Study Group, and the following courses at the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG): Intermediate Foundations, Introduction to Genetic Genealogy, Advanced Methods, All DNA Advanced Evidence Analysis Practicum, and Meeting Standards Using DNA Evidence – Research Strategies. I have also completed the following course at the Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research (IGHR):  DNA as Genealogical Evidence (Advanced).
