The Good Cemeterian (Monthly Meeting)
June 2 @ 10:15 am - 12:30 pm EDT
Our June monthly meeting features Andrew Lumish and Jen Armbruster. Please join us as we provide a fascinating discussion on the preservation of our historical cemeteries. Please allow additional time to park and walk to the front entrance of the library since the old West building entrance (accessed from the bridge connecting to the Poe parking garage) is now closed.
Andrew Lumish stumbled upon a historical cemetery in downtown Tampa, Florida, realized the final resting places of our veterans were forgotten, & decided to do something about it. When Andrew stumbled upon a historic cemetery in Tampa, Florida he was initially intrigued by the unique beauty of the old monuments, but soon he realized the final resting place of our veterans were long “forgotten” and he needed to do something. He began to research proper restoration techniques & product used at national cemeteries. After restoring a few monuments, he realized this was a calling and made it his life goal to continue on this mission, research their names, and tell their story. To this day, over 800 lives have been remembered in the Tampa area. The story of “The Good Cemeterian” has been featured on stations such as NBC, FOX, and CBS. Andrew, with the assistance of Jen Armbruster, who researches and writes the stories for The Good Cemeterian Facebook page, founded a non-profit organization called The Good Cemeterian Historical Preservation Project based on their mission: to restore and honor the past through inspiration and education. Their organization supports numerous vetted military organizations both locally and nationally. Andrew’s son, Tyler, is also part of the cause and designs the graphic art for their page & fundraisers…
